Coach Boone from Remember the Titans

In the movie Remember the Titans, there is a speech made by the head football coach, Coach Boone. In fact, this speech is the turning point of the movie. His speech makes a huge impact on the players and most people watching the movie and combines logos, ethos and pathos into a great speech.
The speech has logos first of all by bringing the players to Gettysburg where the fight that he is talking about happened. Not only does he refer to the Battle of Gettysburg but he relates it to the racial fight they are having within their team and their town. The players are shown that fighting destroyed people back then just like it is destroying them now, which means they need to put their differences aside.
Ethos is present without even referring to himself if you have been watching the movie. The speaker is Coach Boone who is the new head football coach who doesn’t take no for an answer. He is the one in charge and he is very serious about his job. When Coach Boone speaks all of the players listen.
Finally we definitely see pathos presented in this speech in several ways. First of all Coach Boone talks graphically about the battle that took place where they are. He describes how the hot bullets tore through young men and the green field turning red with blood all for fighting about race. This topic hits home to all of the players because that is what they are struggling with, they all have problems with each other because they are caught up in a racial hatred. Coach Boone is trying to make them realize that they will never be successful if they continually hate on each other. He speaks of families torn apart and ends with respect, they may not like each other but he will make sure they respect each other.
