Robert Griffin III Gatorade commercial

In addition to persuading consumers to buy gatorade, this commercial’s goal is also to persuade its audience that gatorade hydrates the body. The audience is athletes, those who look up to Robert Griffin III, and those who are well aware of his talents and successes. The gatorade commercial features Heisman trophy winner and second NFL draft pick, Robert Griffin III. By featuring this well-known and talented athlete, the commercial builds its ethos.
The audience would believe an athlete who claims gatorade hydrates the body because gatorade is a sports drink that athletes consume.   The statement “Forty years of science hydration in every bottle, so you can take what’s yours” also builds the commercial’s ethos. The scene with the man in a white lab coat, and RG3 running on a treadmill reveals the credibility. People should buy this product because the company has invested 40 years of scientific research to continuously improve the product. People are persuaded by research, facts, and discoveries (logos).
Finally, the upbeat music appeals to the audience’s emotions, and the fact that an incredible athlete drinks gatorade makes consuming the drink logical. The ethos is very strong in this commercial.
