5 truths

In today's class, we were challenged to come up with five things we knew to be true. They had to be things that came right to our mind because we were instructed to not take too much time to think about it. After reading all five of my partner's truths, i discovered that four of them were absolute truths. There is no way to dispute these four because they are considered to be facts in our society. There was one that stuck out to me that could be debated. My partner said that it was "chilly outside today." This statement is greatly influenced by social construction and where one lives. The temperature outside was somewhere around fifty-three degrees. To her, fifty-three degrees is chilly, but to someone who lives in Iceland, Alaska, or Russia fifty-three degree weather may be thought of as outdoor weather. Although it seems silly, everyone has their own definition of what it means to be chilly. That statement can always be debated because what is considered to be a feeling about the weather to someone might not be the same feeling that I would have.
