Identity

Prior to watching this video I have not given much consideration as my to my social construction. I would say that there are many things that contribute to my identity. First, I believe that my family, and my upbringing, is mainly responsible for my identity. Because my parents got divorced when I was ten, I have a very large family. I believe that always being surrounded by such loving and supportive people has developed my social construct to be based on family values. Second, I would say that being a Christian is responsible for developing my identity. Faith plays a huge role in my life, and my social construct. I tend to surround myself with individuals who share the same religious beliefs as I do. Faith in something greater than yourself provides a common ground with people who you might not connect with otherwise. This Ted Talk offers great reflection into your person social construct, and the identity you have established within the social realm.
