Truth and Social Construction
After reading Kelly Gramlich's list, there was one that stood out to me as being untrue. She stated that "Texas is the best state in the US." This statement caught my eye immediately. Although Kelly was born and raised in Texas, it seems a little unfair to call it the best state out of the 50. Yes her family is there, her friends, and her childhood memories, but she has also started a new life in a new state. Going to college is hard but so is going to college halfway across the continent. Kelly decided to come to Clemson to further her basketball career as well as her education. Daily, Kelly can be seen wearing some sort of orange. Whether it's clothes, a jacket, or even her shoes, this girl is a die hard Clemson fan. She now has tons of friends here and has established a new life. Without broadening her horizons and experiences something new, she might not have fallen in love with Clemson and South Carolina. The world is a big place and it's hard to pick out just one to be your favorite. Even though she may be a true Texan at heart, deep down she knows Clemson and South Carolina are right up there with her home state.
